Fix Aged Care Now

Fix Aged Care Now

Aged care is in crisis. The Federal Government must deliver a system that respects staff and residents and keeps them safe.

Aged care has suffered from chronic and widespread understaffing over many years. The government must listen to the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aged Care that require at least one Registered Nurse on site at all times.

Demand the government act now to resolve staffing problems, stop unnecessary suffering and save lives.

Stand with aged care nurses, residents and their families to demand a better aged care system.

Demand Senators support RN 24/7

Support to mandate registered nurses in aged care 24/7 is gaining momentum. A motion was put to the House of Representatives and now a bill is being put to the Senate for debate.

Senator, Rex Patrick will introduce the Aged Care Amendment (Registered Nurses Ensuring Quality Care) Act 2021 in the Senate on Wednesday, 1 September to ensure there is an RN on site 24/7 in all Australian nursing homes. Email Senators to make sure they support this important requirement.

Currently, there is no legal requirement in the Aged Care Act (1997) for a registered nurse (RN) to be on site in aged care homes at all times. This was a key recommendation from the Royal Commission into Aged Care.

Personalise the email as much as you'd like. Personal stories are compelling. Do you work in aged care, have a family member in aged care? What have you seen that your MP should know? What difference would having an RN 24 hours a day, 7 days a week make?
